Life was looming behind her and she was wandering away. Without peering back she could continue, through desolation and desperation. Whatever it took.
Aching and numbness was lingering as ever. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to go back, sometimes she did, sometimes that’s all she wanted. But the thought of the pain and troubling nuances was way too much to cope with.
No, the only way she could go on was to fall…
One step off the building and that’s all she needed. Or was it a push? She couldn’t remember.
That wasn’t the point.
She was walking and then running… and then stopped. Crash. Bang. Falling… fallen… gone.
The noises in her head were getting louder, harder to control. The persistent echoing voices went through her and didn’t leave until tinnitus set in.
It felt like she’d been stabbed in the stomach.
It felt like she’d been punched in the face.
It felt like she’d had an injection to her brain.
Falling still.
Broken bones lay twisted on the pavement.
A drifting smile crept across her face.
